Dr. Dave Bouckenooghe received his Ph.D. in Applied Economic Sciences from Ghent University (2009), where he also earned his MSc. in Industrial & Organizational Psychology (2003).
His research mainly focuses on the pivotal role of employees in organizations. He is especially interested in how people and organizations are impacted by change, how they make sense of and respond to change. He is also doing research on the role of positive resources (i.e., work engagement, psychological capital, and emotional intelligence) in shaping in-role job performance, extra-role behaviors (OCB, creativity, etc...) and counterproductive behaviors (deviance, abusive leadership style, etc.). Dr. Bouckenooghe’s work appears or is forthcoming in leading management and I&O psychology journals such as Journal of Management, Journal of Business Ethics, Applied Psychology: An International Review, European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology, among others. Dr. Bouckenooghe also reviews for a variety of other leading scholarly journals, including Journal of Management Studies, Technovation, Journal of Applied Psychology, and etc.
Dr. Bouckenooghe has experience in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels in different institutions including Goodman School of Business (Brock University, Canada – AACSB accredited), NEOMA Business School (Reims, France – triple-crown accredited), and Vlerick Management School (Gent, Belgium – triple-crown accredited). His teaching deals with Organizational Development and Change, Human Resource Planning, and Organization Design. In 2012 Dr. Bouckenooghe received the BUSU Award for Teaching Excellence and was nominated for the Graduate Mentorship Award (Brock University) in 2013.
Dr. Bouckenooghe also received rewards for his research from the ODC division of the Academy of Management (2008 – Student Best Paper Award), the OB division from ASAC (2010 – Best paper) and the Paul Hersey Best Paper Award from Journal of Management and Entrepreneurship (2006).
